Porto Limnionas Zakynthos

Porto Limnionas is another wonderful place to visit during your Greece holidays in Zakynthos.

We find it on the west coast of the island about seven kilometers from Agios Leon village and is considered one of the most hidden and attractive places in Zakynthos almost like a last little corner of Eden still in its natural state.

A particular fjord similar to that of Porto Roxa that we find two kilometers below, is of extreme beauty, clear and turquoise sea between cliffs of white rock dotted with green trees, giving life to this miracle of nature. Its shape is more reminiscent of a lake nestled in the mountains with a lagoon in the middle.

Porto Limnionas is not a real beach, not even the shadow of sand here, only smooth and flat rocks where you can spread your towel. It is more suitable for those who love swimming and given the depth of the water it is recommended only for experts and for those who like snorkeling. The seabed is full of fish and secret caves to be explored. Equip yourself with a mask and fins so as to discover this magical underwater world. The most interesting is the first one you meet going down the steps carved into the rock that has a surprise, when you get to the bottom if you look carefully through the water you realize that the cave continues but this is an experience that only those who can try he is really trained and used to extreme snorkeling. The water in some points is a bit cold due to the gentle currents of the springs that flow in the underground part.

Recently two terraces have been built, furnished with sun beds and umbrellas in limited quantities so if you want to relax while admiring the view, it is advisable to go early to be able to grab them. They are the only tourist facilities that can be found here and let's say thank goodness with the hope that it will remain so for a long time in order to preserve as much as possible what Mother Nature has given and admire the scenery in its original state.

To taste the local specialties based on fresh fish and Greek cuisine, where you leave the car there is the traditional tavern “Porto Limnionas” which offers a fantastic view of the bay while sitting comfortably under the fresh maritime pines.

Undoubtedly a perfect place for those who want something different than the classic sandy coast that still offers a sea so transparent and with crazy colors that it will leave you speechless.

It is necessary to have your own vehicle and head towards the west coast. Arrive at the mountain Agios Leon village and from here following the road signs and the recently paved road and finally go down towards the sea to a large parking lot where you can leave the vehicle. Then continue through the steps carved into the mountain and you will be there.
