Zorkos Beach Andros

2 minutes to read

The Zorkos Beach, we find it on the eastern side of the Andros Island in the north above the Gavrio village and Baridi. Chora the capital has moved about forty kilometers south-east.

A large coastline three hundred meters long and a hundred meters wide of fine golden sand mixed with small pebbles, with an intense blue sea with shades of turquoise, emerald to deep blue, with clean and crystalline waters. The seabed for the first few meters is shallow but then it goes down quite quickly. Unfortunately, sometimes the Greek wind is exposed to the Meltemi especially in the afternoon, but it doesn't matter just get organized and maybe come and visit it in the morning.

Just above the beach, the vegetation begins together with the gentle mountains that protect it like an embrace, making the landscape wonderful and incredibly quiet. In fact, the Zorkos beach is the ideal place for a relaxing day contemplating a wild and still intact scenery where the only sound is that of the sea waves. The most beautiful moment and where time seems to almost stop is at sunset when the colors of the sky merge with the reflections of the Aegean giving rise to one of the most beautiful spectacles that Mother Nature can give us and where silence reigns supreme.

Zorkos beach is not fully organized, one part is equipped with sun beds and umbrellas, but there is space for everyone given its size and you can fully enjoy a day at the beach. You can spread your towel where you will feel most inspired and if you are among the lucky ones you can also find shade among the rocks. During the summer (usually from June to September), a typical tavern offers to drink and eat with dishes of classic Greek cuisine and local recipes.

Given its conformation with imposing rocks that rise from the sea, it is perfect for snorkelers so, arm yourself with a fin and mask to set off to discover the underwater world.

How to get to Zorkos Beach

In this case, even if the Zorkos beach is of an almost disarming tranquility that can usually be found only in the most secluded and secret places in the Greek Islands, getting there is really very simple.

With an asphalted road therefore passable by any type of vehicle you will decide to rent for your holiday in Greece, keeping the Gavrio village as a reference point, head north following the signs for Palestou and then take a dirt road that leads to Kato Varidi up to reach the Zorkos beach where you will leave your car or your scooter and with a short walk you will arrive.

A place of relaxation, with an almost exotic flavor thanks to its rich vegetation and an amazing sea, reasons why it is necessary to include it among the things to do in Andros in order to understand even more the beauty of this island, strangely rich in green and water that offers a different vision than the sister islands of the Cyclades archipelago.
