Vlychada Beach Andros

2 minutes to read

Vlychada beach is located in the north on the west side of the Andros Island about ten kilometers from Gavrio village the main port.

A remote coast and not so easy to reach, considered among the most beautiful on the island where nature has retained its original charm and where to take refuge for a day of total relaxation. Vlychada beach is perfect for loners and adventurers who love wild landscapes with an almost desert flavor.

A beach of soft golden sand, bathed by a turquoise and blue sea, with clear and clean waters with a bottom that drops not forcefully, ideal for those who love to swim.

Given its location it is visited by few tourists and for this reason it is possible to be very comfortable and without too many annoying noises. Obviously it is not equipped you can spread your towel anywhere and for this reason we also recommend that if your intention is to dedicate a whole day to it, to bring you everything you need from something to drink, to eat and to shelter in the hottest hours. The first signs of civilization are found on the Fellos beach about ten kilometers south of Vlychada for the rest nothing...

In the middle of the beach, an imposing rock formation with some Mediterranean scrub shrubs divides it in two while all around you can admire a barren and almost sterile landscape. An oasis of peace without a doubt where you only hear the sound of the sea and you can enjoy nature in its still intact and brutally primitive form. In the northern part of Vlychata beach you will find the small Pyrgos beach but we will talk about this later in detail with another story.

How to get to Vlychata Beach

Here comes the beauty and the main reason why it has not yet been stormed by tourism is its difficult position. So taking Gavrio as a reference point, heading north west following the signs for Mermigies. From here a dirt road of about six kilometers to go and you will have arrived. Pay attention to your vehicle, it would be better to have a 4x4 or a quad to be safer.

Unfortunately there is not much to say about Vlychata beach, it is so isolated and secluded that it has nothing important to talk about, but it certainly manages to have a special charm all its own that only true lovers of adventure and nature they know fully appreciate.

For a “different” day on a “different” beach, Vlychata deserves to be considered and included among the things to do in Andros.
