Gialia and Piso Gialia Beach Andros

The beautiful Gialia Beach as well as the Piso Gialia Beach, we find them on the east side of Andros more or less towards the middle of the island.

Gialia beach is more or less three kilometers from the Chora and has a coastline of small pebbles bathed by clean and transparent turquoise-colored waters, with a backdrop descending strongly and has several stones scattered here and there of different sizes therefore not just ideal for families with small children. Wedged in a small cove, it is gently embraced by plane and poplar trees that come very close to the beach, bringing lots of shade, especially in the afternoon. Despite its position, when the Meltemi the Greek wind that in summer caresses and sometimes even slaps the Aegean Sea coming from the north east, Gialia beach is appreciated only by those who actually love the wind, otherwise stay away from it.

On the left side there are the rocks that create caves to be explored, so if you are a snorkel lover, don't forget fins, mask and an underwater camera. If you have delicate feet, don't forget a pair of rock shoes so you can move more easily and avoid getting hurt. Always with rock formations for those who are experienced or particularly reckless, they can have fun diving and maybe get noticed by some beautiful tourist chasing a tan.

The Gialia beach is not equipped everything is in the wild, so first of all we advise you to go there in the morning since in the afternoon it goes in the shade, second bring everything you need if you decide instead to dedicate a whole day to it. If you have not planned the stop, there is no problem anyway, on the road before arriving at the Stenies village which is right on the road to reach the Gialia beach, you will find excellent taverns where you can stop and taste the local delicacies or Mediterranean cuisine.

As we said before, the area is a succession of splendid beaches such as Ebros beach. Just after the rocky slopes of Gialia and very close to the Piso Gialia beach, we find this long and narrow strip of sand mixed with pebbles, always with a screaming sea. Just out of sight a small tavern for something to drink or eat. You can reach it if you want as well as the other two via a panoramic rocky path from the Stenies village.

And here we are at the Piso Gialia beach, the most sought after and famous especially among young people. Soft sand mixed with a few pebbles washed by clean and transparent waters. Unlike the other two remote and super quiet, the Piso Gialia beach can be said to be one of the most popular and frequented by both tourists and locals. Equipped with sun beds and umbrellas, it is much loved by young people as it offers a wide choice of water sports and its beach bar where you can stay until evening when the atmosphere is transformed with music and aperitifs while admiring the setting sun. For snorkelers, Piso Gialia beach is a small paradise thanks to its rock formations on the sides that hide a lively marine fauna and flora. It is not difficult to reach it, but remember that there is a small descent of 120 steps to do.

Also in this case nothing difficult, taking the Chora as a reference, take the road to Neborio, turn left and from an uphill road take the first crossroads you will meet where you will also find signs for Stenes and following the signs you will arrive at the beaches.

For lovers of walking, there are paths from Stenes that will take you through flower-filled slopes, dry stone walls in the midst of nature and architecture still standing in time.

The whole area has developed considerably in recent years and if you want to spend your holiday in Andros right here it will not be difficult to find accommodation facilities such as apartments or hotels.

A stop to be included in the list of things to see in Andros, for a fun day in a very relaxing naturalistic context and still intact despite the tourism.
