Ateni Beach Andros

The beautiful Ateni beach is found in the north east of the island of Andros about twelve kilometers from the picturesque Batsi village.

In reality, the small bay offers two beaches, one larger and one smaller. Both are protected from the Meltemi wind as they are surrounded by reddish rock walls with green peaks given by the wonderful Mediterranean scrub which, like an embrace, protect it from the currents.

We start from the larger one on the left side, a coast of soft golden sand mixed with small clear pebbles bathed by crystal clear waters and shades of blue where the seabed drops slowly and to get not to touch you have to go a lot after the foreshore thus making the sea almost like a natural swimming pool where families with children will surely find a safe place to entertain the little ones to allow adults to relax in total safety. It is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas and a bar for something cool to drink or to fill the usual peckish that comes on the beach. Don't be surprised if during your exploration you meet some beautiful swans that take a walk undisturbed and then cool off in the sea.

Taking the right side, instead we meet the smaller beach. Also with a beach of sand mixed with gravel with a fantastic sea with clear waters and turquoise-blue colors, but which however descends faster and therefore perfect for lovers of long swims.

Better if you have your own vehicle so you will be free to move whenever you want. Quite simply take the main road whether you are coming from Chora or Gavrio. Follow until the crossroads at Batsi and continue towards the village of Katalkilos, then turn right again towards the village of Atheni and here the road in the last two or three kilometers will become dirt but easily passable and you will finally arrive in beach.

Basically a very beautiful beach, large and with a fabulous sea where you can relax and enjoy the sea or just to stay under the umbrella to laze. A gem, the owner of the beach bar in addition to making fabulous sandwiches, usually offers a glass of fresh limoncello to his guests and woe to those who refuse.

Ateni Bech a small corner of Paradise to be marked among the things to do in Andros, even just a half day, it would be really a shame to miss it.
