2 minutes to read

Andros is a continuous discovery and has a landscape that changes from kilometer to kilometer thus making the island always different.

It is very green with many streams and gentle hills where you can get lost along the way and stay in contact with nature in some places that are still unspoiled.

And could they perhaps lack a wide choice of beaches for all tastes? Obviously not! Explore Andros, find the cove that is closest to your spirit and let yourself go body and soul, regenerate and take home beautiful memories.

What we propose is a trace of the many beaches to visit if you are on the island for your holidays in Greece, then if you find others let us know, we will be happy to make them available to everyone.

VLYCHADA BEACH

Vlychada beach is located on the northwest side of the Andros island, forty kilometers from the Chora and ten from the Gavrio village. Considered one of the most beautiful, it has a coastline of fine and soft sand with a transparent and turquoise sea surrounded by a barren and suggestive landscape. It is a very remote beach and not so easy to reach and therefore not very busy but it is a paradise for lovers of tranquility and privacy. Divided by a majestic rock formation it is a favorite with fishermen. Obviously it is not equipped at all, here you have to bring everything from an umbrella to something to drink and eat but it will surely be a special day where it will be just you, nature and the sea.

Pyrgos Beach

Pyrgos beach in north-west of Andros about fifteen kilometers from Gavrio is one of the still virgin beaches of the island. Reaching it is a real adventure through a dirt road after the Myrmigies village descending towards the coast which also leads to Kaminaki beach and Vlichada beach. A small sandy beach with an uncontaminated, clean and blue sea. The rocks that surround it are excellent for snorkelers where they will find many fish to see and discover or to simply enjoy fishing. Not equipped at all, it is a true oasis of peace and relaxation. Its name comes from the Venetian tower (pyrgos in Greek means tower) of Makrotnatalos whose ruins are located above the beach and which are part of the three Venetian castles of Andros.

Fellos Beach

Fellos beach is in the northwestern part of the Andros island about four kilometers from the Gavrio village in the bay of the same name. It is a beautiful long coastline with soft sand bathed by a blue and extremely crystalline sea, ideal for those who love long swims. It is not equipped at all but is framed by trees that provide natural shade during the hottest hours. Fellos beach is very popular because it is full of fish both for those who like snorkeling and for those who love fishing. In the immediate vicinity but only reachable by sea, the Selki beach and the Kourtalis beach where fishermen generally stop to then be able to sell their fresh fish every day to the taverns that are nearby and offer succulent traditional dishes with a look strictly towards the sea. Getting there is easy, the road is all paved and there is a parking lot to leave the vehicle.

Agios Petros Beach

Agios Petros beach is considered to be the largest beach in Andros. We find it three kilometers west of Gavrio where you will meet the village of the same name. An infinite expanse of soft golden sand, with a blue, transparent sea, with rocks to bask in the sun and where even in August you will never find overcrowding but only relaxation and tranquility. The seabed drops slowly making it perfect for families with children and for lovers of long swims. It is partly equipped and you can find taverns where to eat something, bars, shops and water sports centers. The village behind it, which has grown rapidly in recent years, has a beautiful tower, perhaps one of the best preserved on the island, dating back to the Hellenistic period of the 2nd century, about twenty meters high and of great historical importance.

Kypri Beach

Kypri beach is located near Golden Sand beach in the north west of the Andros island. It is considered one of the most sheltered due to its position in the beautiful bay and on the right from the small promontory. A beach of soft sand with clean, transparent waters and iridescent colors from blue to turquoise with gently sloping backdrops therefore ideal for families with children where children can have fun and adults relax. It is equipped with sun beds and umbrellas and there are three beach bars offering plenty of drinks and food. For windsurfing lovers, a center to rent equipment. Kyrpi beach is very quiet and ideal for those who love swimming or simply for a romantic walk on the water's edge

Golden Sand Beach

The Golden Sand beach or called by the locals Chrysi Ammos or Psili Ammos (which means fine sand), is located in the northwestern part of Andros about two kilometers from Gavrio. Given its position it is sheltered from the winds and therefore also ideal for families with children. It is not very big but very popular so if you want to find a place you should go early in the morning before all the sunbeds and umbrellas run out. A coastline of soft golden sand bathed by an infinitely clear and turquoise sea. In all the Greek islands there is a Golden Beach due to the color of sand, but here in Andros, the gold is more intense than in other parts and in contrast with the color of the sea and the landscape that surrounds it, the makes it one of the most exotic beaches in the Aegean. There is a beach bar on the beach where you can find both food and drink. It is much loved by tourists and especially by young people for the events that are sometimes organized in the evening. Reaching it is very easy, an asphalted road will lead you directly to the beach.

Batsi Beach

Batsi beach, is located directly in the picturesque and renowned seaside resort much sought after by tourists who choose the Andros island on the north-west side for their holidays in Greece. Right in the middle of the hills in a beautiful natural harbor on the southern end of the bay, Batsi beach is protected from the winds and has a coastline of soft golden sand and lapped by crystal clear blue waters. All around tamarisk trees that give a cool shade in the sunniest hours. The seabed drops gently in fact it is very popular with families with children. It is super equipped with sun beds, umbrellas, water sports centers, bars for a cool drink, typical taverns where you can enjoy excellent Greek and international cuisine, restaurants and shops.

Stivari Beach

Stivari beach is located very close to the characteristic and renowned seaside of Batsi town in the northwestern part of the island of Andros. In a very quiet position, there is a small coast of sand mixed with rocks both on the beach and inside the sea with clean and calm waters. The seabed slopes gently, perfect for swimming and fishing. The surrounding landscape is of an unusual natural beauty given the proximity to one of the most famous villages and with its reeds and a vegetation of trees that give shade in the hottest hours makes it truly unique. It is not equipped so remember to bring everything you need. On the southern side a small river. Getting there is very simple, just cross the center of Batsi and just after the port turn right and the fantastic cove is about eight hundred meters below. Just above a nice tavern to eat something. Never crowded, it is the ideal place for a day in total relaxation.

Apothikes Beach

Apothikes beach is located in the southwestern part of the Andros island on the road leading to Chalkolimionas beach just below Stavropeda. A beautiful sandy bay with a clean, clear and blue sea. Its name, which in Greek means warehouses, derives from the small warehouses present that were once used as storage for small boats. The rock formations that surround it are perfect for snorkeling or spearfishing. A small bar for something to drink and nibble on and all around a barren landscape with a few fig trees. It is not equipped but certainly a beach where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful surrounding nature to the fullest.

Mylos Beach

Mylos beach, we find it in the south-eastern part of the Andros island near the Ormos Korthiou village about forty kilometers from Gavrio. It is a sandy beach with a clear blue sea where the wind sometimes annoys you. It is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas and is very suitable for lovers of water sports. The name of the beach (Mylos in Greek means mill) comes from the fact that in the center of the coast there is an old windmill. In the immediate vicinity typical taverns where you can taste the Greek cuisine and shops.

Gialia Beach

Gialia beach, is located in the eastern part of the Andros island about three kilometers from the Chora. A shoreline of pebbles washed by a turquoise and crystalline sea surrounded by tall trees of poplars and plane trees that almost completely shade it in the afternoon. Even if wedged in a small bay, the Greek wind is often subject to the Meltemi, and the seabed immediately drops strongly. On the left of the beach there are rocks perfect for diving and snorkeling lovers. It is not equipped but in the nearby Stenies village you can find excellent taverns for something to eat and drink.

Piso Gialia Beach

Piso Gialia beach, is just after the Gialia beach but they have a completely different atmosphere. Unlike its sister, Piso Gialia is super equipped, super crowded and super noisy. It is the favorite beach for young people where a sparkling beach bar enlivens the days and evenings with music and colorful cocktails. Here too the coast has small pebbles but a crystal clear and clean sea. To get there you have to do about one hundred and twenty steps but once you get there you can enjoy this beautiful cove and treat yourself to a day of celebration.
