Andros

How to get to Andros

2 minutes to read

Here is another pearl of Greece, Andros Island. Second in size of the Cicaldi Islands Archipelago and a favorite destination especially at the weekend for the Athenians, it also doesn't have an airport, so the only way to reach it is by sea.

Andros Island is the greenest of the entire archipelago as it is crossed by four perennial rivers which offer vegetative prosperity as well as natural wells and abundant water. It is also perfect for trekking given the many pine, chestnut and oak forests which, around the corner, offer breathtaking views.

Despite its lively spirit and full of things to see and do, Andros Island still remains off the beaten track of mass tourism, making it perfect for a holiday in Greece based on unspoiled nature and relaxation.

So to be able to reach it you must necessarily take a flight + ferry. The arrival airport is Athens and thanks to many low cost airlines it won't be difficult to find a ticket, even a cheap one, which will allow you to "widen" for the choice of accommodation.

Once you arrive in Athens you must necessarily take the ferry. Be careful because the boats to reach Andros only leave from the port of Rafina, the small town on the coast that can be reached in about half an hour from the Eleftherios Venizelos airport with a public bus. The stop for the bus from Athens to Rafina is right in front of the arrivals terminal and will take you directly to the ferries. The journey time of the ferry is around two hours. A second solution could instead be to fly to Mykonos and from there take the ferry that takes you to Gavrios the port of Andros. During the summer period there are several trips which also stop on the mystical and splendid island of Tinos, for this option we advise you to write to us at info@meraviglioseisolegreche.com specifying your itinerary so we can find you the best solutions. Travel time two hours and twenty minutes while from Tinos an hour and a half.
